No one needs an explanation for girl robots, just make girl robots.
If gender is meaningless in transformers then no one should give as shit if some are more feminine. Robots take all shapes and sizes, some just happen to be curvy and fuckable.
In any of these series, when they try to explain shit too much it gets stupid and hokey. Did Shockwave and Whirl's faces need explanation? No they were just one eyed robots, because why the fuck not?
