Kids aren't dumb, people like to excuse shit like Titan heroes or lack of paint as kids not caring, but while they might be fine with them initially they lose interest because it's easy to see that there are better, cooler toys out there..and the shit they get at retail just doesn't cut it after a while.
Look at toy reviewers online and their reviews are all full of kids commenting on them.
the thing is, kids don't really have a sense of money. Especially when they see how their parents are ok buying them $70 video games and shoes. They don't get why a parent wouldn't be ok spending the same money on a toy.
Then on the other hand, most parents of kids these days are probably Millennials or early zoomers. We grew up with decent toys at $7-20. Comparable toys are now twice or three times the price they were. You can excuse it with inflation, but most people aren't thinking in terms of plastic costs rising, it's a more matter of fact "I paid $7 for a Spider-man 2 toy as a kid, why the fuck is a Spider-man NWH toy $25?"
Call them poor or unaware, matter of fact is they're not going to be willing to spend what they see as a ripoff price on something.
