Scott Nietlich also said it was pretty unmarketable and said Ghostbusters is just one of those franchises that is technically popular, but just doesn't usually sell well, because it's really a niche fandom with little new media to get people interested. Mattel even tried crowd funding a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 which failed.
