There are some things in life where, even if you regret not having listened to your elders about, even if you yourself were to go back in time to try convincing your younger self, you in fact know that you would not have listened. I think it comes with the territory of growing up, there's going to be certain things we'll insist on regardless of better advice. That being said, "kid was enjoying his toys without caution" is I think a rather natural and harmless thing among youthful mistakes.
