Opinions on fake alt mode parts?
This is something the franchise has been doing for a loooooong time, like G2 Laser Optimus Prime's chest. It's made to look like truck windows and a grill, but they're not actually incorporated into his vehicle mode at all.
I don't personally like it, but it is essentially necessary on some figures. I think the Masterpiece Beast Wars figures get a pass, but I don't like something like PotP Optimus Prime where his entire robot mode is made to look like a truck but all it does is turn into a grey box.
It often feels like an engineering shortcut, with the worst example I can think of off the top of my head being Movie 2007 Legends Jazz, who just had an extraneous vehicle grill on the top of his back in car.
Is anyone else even on my level of autism with this? Has anyone ever even given it a thought?
