>>9639950I'm not a huge doll guy but they do fascinate me in passing. The dolls are like barbies but their heads are larger and wider and that's what I based it on.
I never thought she looked specifically mean either. You're bang on with the dramatic and bold part though. I like toys with a selection of expressions and can see kids (especially younger ones) enjoying a more outright "happy" expression. I get the reading it as "resting bitchface" camp too.
I personally enjoy more calm or neutral expressions. For some the more vintage style stoic or zen expression is a big part of the appeal of dolls. I enjoy it in many classical sculpture and when I'm drawing. (hell, i think most of my worn down skeletors look "cute" with their calm neutral expression.)
Happy coding doesn't necessarily means uncanny valley to me (the classic Lego smiley face for example is versatile and timeless in its own way without being creepy).
Either having one neutral face applicable in many situations that embraces the "dollness" of itself vs. a variety of faces that are good for different dioramas or just to suit different tastes (including a neutral one) is a luxury.
Sad to hear about that cancellation. I bet I would've liked something like the image you posted.
