>>11095495Because just about everything based around Oz is family friendly, save for a few niche outliers. Wicked is the most famous of these outliers. But movie makers and marketers don't know and/or don't care that Wicked is for adults. They just see $$$ that the merch will pull in. (Which it won't because Wicked is adult in content and woke as fuck.)
In hindsight, this was a common occurrence in the 80's and 90's. Rambo, Robocop, and other R-rated properties got toys. But you could see boys being attracted to those types of IP's. I don't think there was any girl focused IP's that were based on R-rated or adult material. Best I can think of was Mego's disastrous Love Boat line and the original Charlies Angels.
