The hallway I think is just basically two dead ends, I think this was a bedroom, and they basically cut out part of it and created a small closet space, the door in it leads to a walk-in attic with plenty of storage space. I keep my Lego stuff in one end, litter box in the other so it works out really well actually.
It's actually not cramped at all though, the room is a lot larger than the photos make it seem, about 300 square feet.
