You can believe there's organs in their bodies and they have weight to their form, but they don't look overtly humanoid. Second favorite interpretation would be Mirimax designs, for at least trying to make them have mechanical motifs; as opposed to using a style more on the generic end. The alphabet person that just makes Warframe reskins with dummy thicc asses comes to mind.
