Macross designs are better thought out of course because Kawamori is basically designing them from the ground up to fit the transformation, but I think the hateboner for any kind of shellforming is tiring. Maybe if you were too old or too young for the Beast Era/RiD. you hate it but to me it's just another way to do a Transformer.
>>10801140Kawamori has the benefit of designing them from the ground up. In real life jets are very flat and don't have much space for robot parts. But since Kawamori isn't just taking a real life jet ot trying to imitate an existing robot design, he can, say, make the rear fuselages thick enough to work as robot legs and have the kibble of the robot design he wants. A g1 seeker doens't have that benefit, a lot of the parts on the robot mode model sheet from Sunbow just plain don't exist on a real F-15 and so it has to be stuffed from somewhere.
