I've skimmed the thread and thought it pretty ridiculous, but i'm starting to side with the minifigure lover.
Minifigures do add a great layer of play and make vehicles much more interesting to look at. It's part of why people get into those blind boxes, looking for specific characters.
Totally agree with that anon who said that if you only wanted the vehicles, that shit already exists with Mattel, Tomy, and dozen or so other mini vehicle lines, like the XWing game.
I think the next step, if the line is doing well, is to get into diorama pieces and playsets. The OT, EU, and even the PT are full of famous and popular locales.
