>>8750129I would always wear good respirator for painting but ive never worn one for sanding (I might be completely retarded). I have a fairly tight workshop space but an air purifier seems to work well for dust/plastic particles suppression. I still always wash parts before priming though.
>>8750458Never considered it but Id expect even very fine steel wool is extremely course when you compare it to 2000-3000 grit sandpaper.
>>8750463Look you really dont have to but it makes a tangible difference in my opinion being able to articulate and pose a figure more than a few times without damaging the paint work. It also enhances the matte look by absorbing more light. I didn't think all primers were etch primers either, especially for model plastics, Ive only ever encountered them in industrial scenarios when priming metals and preparing for electro plating, and I still sanded at 400+600 grit beforehand.
>>8750480It does, but Gunpla is particularly smooth and articulated. Its about making the most robust coating possible, especially when you're applying metallics or using chipping mediums which can deteriorate easily.
>>8750707I spend a load of hours on a model generally, the extra few to sand down the major surfaces and joints so theres no issues with the painting is time well spent. If the model is being photographed at high res and harsh lighting every little tiny mistake is extremely obvious. You might also just be autistic like me and sweat over those details.
