The thing is entirely pistons and support struts with a big torso. It's hard to tell from just the model at first glance but closer inspection reveals most of the tail is just negative space that would be removed. It's a structural nightmare for the HMM design team is my bet.
And the show does not help either. I just feel like that for how much an HMM gordos would cost due to its size, I would just be dissappointed in final result.
