For The World, the most important thing that you're going for in an accurate kick pose is trying to get the almost vertical curve as you can see here:
>>8680862. I've drawn out the curve and marked a few things in the picture:
1. You can twist the gray double ball join in the knee to have that leg facing forward. There's a little yellow "lip" molded into the leg (exactly where the circular peg is), but you can absolutely ignore that and have the green heart go OVER it. It gives the illusion of the leg facing forward, which is important because:
2. To answer your earlier question, yes, that ball cap over the hip joint can move. And you can swivel it independently of the leg.
3. Now, the way The World's quads are molded, the outside where his hip discs are is normally a "stopper"--if you twist his leg too far, it butts up against his pelvis, and it won't move any further. But just like playing with the knee, you can make that piece go up OVER the hip to give you more range of motion.
The way I did it, I wanted to keep his quad still kind of facing forward so you can kinda see the green "ribbing" above his knee, and is still as anatomically correct as possible. If you don't give a shit about that, and just want to get as vertical as possible with his leg, twist the back of his leg until it faces FORWARD, so that the molded hip doesn't hit his pelvis at all. His leg will go STRAIGHT UP.
As for Dio, where I circled "4," he's got that same lip molded into the joint of his elbow. Just twist his arm so that the crook of the double joint rests nicely into that lip and his arms will cross convincingly.
