Anons, I could really use some some opinions on how I should proceed with this. I got an old garage kit for the GM Land Combat type that I'm trying to kit bash with a GM Guards type to give it some articulation and I'm stuck on how to handle this chest piece.
Should I go with my first idea of sawing off these two side pieces from the chest to graft onto the HGTO chest so that I'll still have all the joints and articulation of the modern GM kit while retaining the features of the Land Combat GM chest piece like in my first two pics? Or should I use a drill/dremel to carve out space inside the resin kit chest to fit the joint sockets into so that I can just pop the arms and lower body onto the resin kit chest, like in the third pic?
I feel like the first idea could be the least amount of work, but I've heard that resin kits can be pretty brittle and they're completely solid rather than hollow like regular plastic kits or 3d printed kits, so I'm wary of sawing off huge chunks or trying to hollow any parts out too much just to have the piece shatter or something.
What do, bros? It's my first time working with a resin kit so I'm not too familiar with how resin behaves when modifying it heavily. All I know is I shouldn't breathe in resin dust if I want to live long enough for the lacquer thinner and paints to kill my lungs instead.
