This obviously doesn't apply to IPs owned by other companies and some of their licenses are really easy to acquire in China, like SNK's hence the Metal Slug transformer. There's no good justification for companies to go unlicensed for these other IPs you're thinking of. Think FPJ's 3P TFs vs Action Toys' 3P Machine Robo.
