Hey all, anybody here especially familiar with the Lego train stuff?
I have my own house and now have the funding to do some shit I actually want to do, so I am ideally looking to build a permanent(?) layout with scenery on 2 to 3 custom made tables that I can lock together with clasps or something, I've no idea yet what my options are but I'm hoping for something that can be collapsed and moved or carried to another room / out of the house without too much trouble.
Pic related is my best option to work with in terms of space, 2 inches = 1 square (rounded down).
Black: Walls.
Blue: Free space, I can use all of it up and not give a damn.
Green: Could use it in a pinch, a bit is fine but a lot / all of it and I have to start giving things up I don't want to give up (right side) or start getting hemmed in a bit (left side).
Red: Immoveable stuff (radiator, my computer desk.)
Orange: A window.
Not 100% set in stone, I could have it encroach into the white space a little bit for sufficiently good reason.
Ideally I'd like enough of a layout to run two trains simultaneously, with some remote controlled points for some sidings or alternate routes, but I'll take what I can get. I don't even know where to begin or if I even have enough room here for this, if worse comes to worse I could conceivably cannibalize an 8ftx8ft area of my dining room to work with but that's an absolute last resort as I wouldn't get to enjoy it while sat at my PC and I'd have to give up the ability to play Dead of Winter and other board games with my friends, as there would no longer be room.
What do? Do I even have room for such a thing? Any advice?
