>>8103001The DC Super Hero dolls. Where do I even start? It was part of a push to get girls to consoom DC product like boys and manchildren do (which was a flawed idea from the getgo) The idea of an action figure-doll hybrid isn’t inherently bad but Mattel did it all wrong.
- Molded on clothes. The whole point of a doll is that you can change their outfits.
- Dull character design. Most of the characters are pale brunettes in neutral-colored outfits, not very exiting from a visual standpoint.
- Just a total misunderstanding of what girls like (that was most likely spurred on by feminist agenda pushing)
They were bad action figures because they could barely move and they were bad dolls because you couldn’t change their clothes. No one wanted these so they shelfwarmed like mad.
If Mattel had made characters with actually pretty outfits like Canary it could have worked, but that wouldn’t be empowering enough apparently.
