What a raw deal FoC toys got with the budget cuts. Though I seem to recall people were excited for them until after having in hand for about a week.
I don't remember the line getting hate right away, it took until the new toy smell rubbed off.
Grimlock is no exception, I remember everyone was very excited to get their hands on the cool new Grimlock from the cool new game.
And once you have him in hand... he's kinda not great.
Strange proportions, what with the bulbous tail and tiny head.
And *incredibly* hollow. Like, yeah he's bigger than most of today's voyagers but his weight isn't scaled the same. Grimlock's main torso block is about 1 degree more opaque than crossover Maverick.
On the positive side I do like his light-up dino head. It give's him light up eyes and flame breath at the same time.
Also the paint is good too. There's a lot of extra gold on the tail and a lot of details picked out in red across the whole toy.
