Superman 2 basically started it. It helps a story flow a lot better, that everything your explaining about the origins is for both characters.
Having to do anything with the mandarin in a movie was gonna slow it down. Really, it sucks RDJ became so huge. I would have preferred an Iron Man 4 over his heavy presence in Spider-man HC.
Anyway, what versions of the mandarin do people want to see in figure form? We are indeed over due.
