>>7394549This is sad. Part of the con experience is the fun of finding more unusual figures in person that you'd normally have to scour secondhand sites for and pay a lot of postage/taxes on, not just be faced with row upon row of the same shit being sold on the high street.
My favourite comic shop in Liverpool seems to pretty much survive off Funko Pops, and on the one hand they must be doing okay because they expanded the store a few years ago and they get more deliveries of foreign figures than they ever used to so that's great. I just worry about what they'll do if/when ~le bubble bursts~, or they decide to do away with weebshit altogether. I remember them being one of the first places locally that stocked shojo manga and anime merch before anime really took off in the late 90s/early 00s, and it'd be a sad end to an era.
