The mold was technically well after the switch to strict sunbow accuracy was made, but the fact that Mitsubishi clearly only really cared about the cab of the truck being recognizable for the licensing, it let Takara get away with having the rest of the vehicle just look like the toy, which is why the transformation is so much more intuitive and requires no faux parts like Prime 3.0, Bee 2.0, Sunstreaker, etc... And because Artfire never appeared in the cartoon, his paint job was inspired by the toy, which means he got silver face paint, kitschy '80s robot tampos and chrome, so he doesn't look nearly as sparse as Grapple or Inferno. And the fact that he got a brand new Targetmaster mold still blows my mind. Even Roddy just got a lazy repaint of the decade-old Hasbro one.
I've actually been selling off a lot of my MPs lately too, mostly just the duplicate molds/repaints. I actually got into collecting Transformers through MPs over a decade ago with the intention of them being the focus of my collection, but that's just not very appealing anymore. Trying to figure out which version of some of the older molds is my favorite has been hard, and I still ended up holding on to some doubles, like I have both G2 Sideswipe and Clampdown still because fuck they're both gorgeous. Same goes for Wheeljack and Exhaust, I just don't think I could part with either one.
