Kylo Ren is just an edgey Darth Vader fan boy that is the "villain" because. Luke would never, EVER attack a fellow Jedi in training, let alone his own family member, out of fear / desperation / anger. He saved his freaking dad who was Darth Vader for crying out loud. The EU was not perfect but I think Dark Empire handled that situation a lot better than TLJ. At no time did I feel sympathetic about Kylo Ren. It's why the 3rd films in the ST is going to be such a cluster fuck
