So I ended up buying the rest of the critter sets for the hell of it. Overall they were about the same quality as the first one, not quite as good as some other Chinese legos but not terrible either. There were a couple minor mismolds and one 1x1 round tile that should've been a round plate, but nothing that interfered with the builds, thankfully. Out of the five I like the green one best, the four-legged red guy the least. I'm not sold enough on MWS to seek out more sets by them, though if any others come through my usual source and they're interesting enough I'd probably check them out.
