After lurking and researching for a while I've finally decided to build a kit. Pic related is what I've been planning to import. The paints will be acrylic paints I can find easily in my city and the glue I will buy it domestically because it seems easier.
What I'm not sure yet is the material needed to detail panel lines. From the pictures I've seen, I really want to have a model with detailed panel lines like this

Is that correct? What is it that you coat the model with in order to protect it? Do I need anything else to start building a model?
