The old Neca Wolf figures from 2008 are basically pre-posed statues with very basic articulation, whereas the SHMA has articulation out the wazoo. You'd have to buy several versions of Neca's Wolf to get all of the accessories, whereas the SHMA comes with pretty much everything you'd want/need.
Be warned though, he does not scale with Neca predators.
I picked him up pretty cheap as a temporary fix until the new Neca Wolf is released, and I'm extremely happy with him. It's nice to have a predator closer to 1/12 scale to pose with my other import figures.
