Greetings MRG!
If you remember from last thread, I'm the guy who came late to the party and had to pay for it. I got the original Takara Tomy DA-05 Diaclone DA-05 Power Suit Type A & B.
What I also got was a cheaper, Chinese knockoff of one of the suits made by Mech Fan Toys as some posters suggested they are good.
It came in today, and I opened the box to see how it compares and stacks up to the original.
I have to say, based on the one I got (some people did have complaints) that the resulting product is very good.
Yes, it's not as polished and well finished as the original. You can see the pins are less well machined, there are some plastic bits that are left over from molding that you should clip off yourself but overall, for about 15 USD and free shipping you really can't complain.
The pilot is in great shape, he can stand on his own, and fits inside no problem.
The Mech itself has good friction in all its joints ( a big concern and a frequent complaint of some buyers) and there's really nothing that I'd say is lacking.
You pay less, and the quality is not as good as the originals, but certainly good enough that unless you're looking for the differences, the casual observer can't tell them apart.
They're certainly something I'm going to buy more of, as the more affordable price makes them massable.
Also some of their original designs seem pretty good.
Overall I'd rate it as a good purchase, got what I wanted and more for the price range.
Is this the usual with Mech Fan Toys or was I just lucky? Should I expect similar things if I keep buying?
