The franchise also had a ton of goofy tongue-in-cheek humor at this time, poking fun at itself or general sci-fi tropes.
Now everything is so nailed-down and established, and you have nerds who will argue about the accuracy of rivets on the near-identical looking minis. It's become so boring to me. I still buy the figures because they aesthetically remind me of the franchise I loved, but it's not the same anymore. It's gone from feeling like an infinite sandbox, to a small room with a cup of sand in the corner. I guess that's what happens when you get big and make a ton of money.
