If there really were that many adults buying toys, adult toy companies would have deals with big retailers, instead of being shoved into corners and being paid on consignment, because they only sell in the tens of thousands.
Toy companies also wouldn't be producing a billion toylines that /toy/ never talks about, because only kids are interested in this shit.
Toy companies all do their own market research AND pay for companies like NPD who track sales, and also who buys shit, how they buy shit, and who they're buying shit for. So they know full well who their bread and butter is and this is why shit like this exists.
Also, i came across a little survey and apparently aunts rarely ever buy their nephews toys. Grandparents, moms, fathers, uncles, fucking FRIENDs, and "others" buy kids toys far more than fucking aunts.
