I actually just got done upgrading my shelving situation, here's a panorama of the displays as they stand now, with a couple vacant shelves (still reshelving a few figures). Pardon the mess through the right-hand door, it's a storage/workshop space.
I used to like open shelves, but I've got an older home and a dog, so dust is a bitch to manage. I've mostly switched to cases with glass doors as a result. It also helps with feeling safe that things won't shelf-dive and end up nibbled on by the dog when I'm not looking.
I love LED lights, I feel like they really make a collection look instantly more impressive.
>>9276859They are fine for starting out, but there's definitely better options out there, even within Ikea's offerings. Despite replacing my detolfs, I've still just used Ikea stuff because it's affordable yet attractive, and I can get it delivered relatively cheaply. If you're looking to take a step up from detolfs without breaking the bank, check out Billy shelves + Oxberg/Morliden doors, or check out Besta Shelves with Glassvik doors (or the wooden frame ones but I forget their name).
>>9280413>The Billy is just as wobblyOkay but you should ABSOLUTELY be anchoring Billy cases to the wall. They are tall and have a small base, they are an example of Ikea furniture where the wall anchor isn't just to legally cover their ass, it's pretty much necessary. If you have doors on a Billy and don't anchor it it WILL fall over when they are opened.
>Not as a display cabinetIt's absolutely meant to also be a display cabinet, they sell 2 different flavors of glass doors for it, and their newer smart led strips come in a length specifically to fit the Billy's width.
>>9279032If you've built up a decently large collection, it looks pretty unfortunate to see it on cheap shelves. It cheapens the whole thing by looking unpolished. Depends on what your goal is, I guess.
