battle planet figures, while improving- i don't think have matched the best of the original run. and i feel like we had to start the path to said cool dudes all over again.
the games are both pretty similar in terms of how they're played. in both cases more emphasis is on field control and movement than outwitting the opponent.
old game had too much shit attached to it. and that made it hard to play
new game does away with all the extra bits, cards are now hexagons which is cool, and have more strategic possibilities (not a ton but still)
the shows *exist*. the first one is bad, but enjoyable. haven't seen the new one so cant comment on it
neither game was going for "the next yugioh. but more a simple game for kids to play with their bakugan toys. almost like just another thing to put on the back of the box as a feature- and to tie everything together. the toys take precedent over the game for sure.
and lets be honest- we all spent more time just playing with the damn things than actually playing the games anyway :P
