In Australia and New Zealand we had these, Yowie Power. There is a new series of these out that contains an animal figure, but during their initial run they had expansive sets of kitset creatures, from sea-life to arthopods to birds and beyond. These sets were similar to something you would find from a good Kinder pull, but unlike Kinder were you had a good chance of getting tat with Yowie Power you were almost guaranteed to get a detailed kitset every time, with the only exceptions being figures of the Yowie characters themselves or a figure of a Grumpkin, a monster based on an environmental hazard, but both of these were uncommon and you usually got an animal.
The shear variety in these sets is truly something to behold.
