He got his money and gave it to charity - if he was really THAT attached to the vague ideas he had for the sequel trilogy (which pretty much seem to be only "young heroes/female protagonist/Luke in exile/midichlorians up the wazoo", he could've made it a stipulation in the sale to Disney that Kennedy (who he handpicked to run the company in his stead) would stick to those ideas, but he didn't.
I also think a lot of fans, even after so much about how these movies were written and made, still WILDLY overestimate how much any of this stuff was ever set in stone in George's mind and how much he must be as riled up as the fans about how Disney's slate of films has turned out.
