I primed and basecoated pic related with 0.5mm and I went through something like 3 or 4 jars of paint which is fucking insane now that I think about it. With 0.35 I could probably do it with 2 jars or less. With 0.18 I could probably do it with 1 jar but I would still be painting to this day.
That said priming needs 0.35mm at least, anything smaller isn't really viable.
