>>10739263While I am not always a huge fan of Jesse's toys, this is just plain wrong. It paints him as some kind of slick businessman manipulating the actual creatives around him. He's always been an artist.
I was following him for a long time before he even got his own toylines started. He was a voracious artist, filling up tons and tons of sketchbooks. His technical skills were never the greatest, but he never quit. Some people would just give up if their art didn't continue to improve, but he kept grinding and filling up sketchbooks with weird and wacky ideas. He has been like that since he was young, he still has all the comic books and shit he made. I respect that immensely. For whatever ills you can say about his toys or his business acumen, I'd say he is very much a 'real' artist. He just always had bigger dreams than his own hands could execute.
And no, before anyone says it, I have never paid for his Patreon, and only own like 5 or so KOTS figures (all bought on clearance). I simply respect his drive as an artist, and always have.
