Ahem. There's some thrift store chains that are actually there for PROFIT. Because of this, they are not considered a charity and they must charge sale taxes like any other stores. They still require people to donate though. That's why I never give anything to the Value Village / Le Village des Valeurs. I give my old crap to Renaissance instead, where they are an actual charity and they charge no taxes.
Still, I shop at both because I can find some nice crap for my various customs. Also, WHO shop at a thrift store and hope to turn a profit? There is NOTHING of value there and it's always broken and incomplete stuff.
