>>11027453>Local anon judges for first time and is completely flabbergasted on how to build scale models, more news at 11After judging and going to shows for close to a decade anon I can tell you 3 things; everyone makes mistakes; learn from others' mistakes to improve your own projects and the whole judging system is subjective because of the judges themselves. Just because a model loaded with aftermarket and looks spectacular didn't make the cut because the left wheel was canted 2mm to the left doesn't mean it's a bad model, just means the builder just has to take a bit more time checking his alignment next time. I've seen models win gold in one show and be completely ignored in another for something else because it had more detail or was a better build. Judging is subjective because the judges themselves only look for faults they know like seams and other imperfections not knowing if those imperfections are supposed to be there. Problem is most modelers will suffer what I call the ISS -(IPMS shit standards). After building for so long they assumed everything must be uniform. I've seen two 109's at one show get the chop because the judges never built anything German and assumed the seam on the rear fuselage was builder error, despite the seam being on the actual aircraft. Also Extreme detail isn't bad, on the contrary it shows you put more effort into your build compared to others but don't let that detail distract you from the quality of the build, it all has to be in harmony. I've won in a couple of shows because despite my model having a few flaws, I added more detail compared to those who were built flawlessly but were plain in everything else. You do you anon, sorry for the Ted Talk- T. Royal Navy/ Soviet Sherman anon
