Since there's room for a nameplate decal underneath here, I decide to spray the bottom with the hull red as well. And since the bottom will rub against stuff, I gave it a quick spray of matte varnish just because. Quick, sloppy, quite a lot of it. It isn't like the bottom really matters after all. Then it started drying and... what? In some places it's smooth, in some places it's gone rough, with the texture flowing in lines almost like iron flakes following magnetic field lines, or stress lines in injection moulded plastic. Could there perhaps be some static electrical charge to the plastic due to injection stress causing some kind of kinda, sorta, piezo-electric effect, which'd then shuffle around the varnish?
