Sometimes, you never know exactly what young kids will find enticing until they pass 2, so I figure my chances are better with a bunch of stuff than just pure tracks. There's a bunch of cheap, brand new ones on Bricklink from $75-100. In comparison, I was thinking of a $60 Brio train set + a $30 motorized train, so it's neck and neck. I'm thinking of going with Duplo given what you've said.
>>8551674This one's nice because it has the bridge and a crane made of bricks instead of solid pieces. Judging by Bricklink, mostly complete without a box or instructions is $80-100, which is good. It seems like a great collection when comparing the "deluxe" train collections over the years. All of them feature different crane molds, interestingly enough. Thanks for the suggestion.
