I had an interesting thought. We know a lot about the line review mockups that Kenner made for for the Star Wars line using Fisher Price Adventure People as the base, to the point where people even sell customs and reproductions re-creating those prototypes. Are there any photos that exist of the materials Hasbro produced for Real American Hero's line review, though? The only think I really know about it is that they used model kits to build representations of the vehicles, but I have heard nothing about how they represented the figures themselves. Did they actually mock up physical figures with kitbashing and clay, or would they have just had printed out character designs on standees? What figure lines were around back then that they could have modified into modern soldiers? It's a mystery that I find myself very curious about but it's hard to dig up any actual information.
