>>8795609You're right, looked em up after posting about it, there's a couple really useful sites out there by collectors. I just couldn't reconcile the Cobra black and red (and sometimes grey) aesthetic with the more realistic military theme I was used to and never got back into MM by the time they'd folded, outside the odd Star Wars set.
Found it interesting looking through those sites (
https://micromachinesmilitary.com/ and
https://joescurios.weebly.com/) that they had re-released the Night Attack base set without the light tower or vehicles, and some of the other sets with added GI Joe/Cobra stuff, don't remember seeing those. Something I found odd was I distinctly remember getting a large playset called Wolf Ridge Battle Ground (for pretty cheap too) and the set does exist, but under that name it was desert-themed whereas mine was green temperate (pine tree instead of palm trees), The green temperate version is named Shadow Rock Battle Base everywhere I've seen but I am quite certain I got the green version in packaging labeled Wolf Ridge. It's a small thing really and it could be a regional variant but before looking it up I didn't know the desert version existed. Really miss that playset, was my favorite of them all (except for the Orion submarine perhaps) and it got discarded during one more cross-ocean move.
On the more positive side I managed to score one of these off ebay for a good price last year, had broken mine accidentally years ago and while I'd found a few cheap KOs of it packaged with army men, just wasn't quite the same.
