Plus, the Star Trek comparison works just fine if you actually think about it. Hyperspace functions like warp drive. The astrobeam is a transporter. Renegade ships employ a stealth device and those ships cannot fire while cloaked (see Star Trek 6). GoBotron is part of sort of has a prime directive, instead of the blind assumption of the Star Wars universe. Leader 1 and Scooter traveled to an evil universe just like Mirror Mirror and, guess what, via a transporter accident just like Kirk's people. No swordfighting wizards either...typical adversaries are aliens with advanced technology.
You can't see the world building in GoBots because you're too stuck in the mindset of a child's playground popularity contest.
