What are the shittiest toy collecting communities?
I'll start: Star Wars.
I've only been collecting for 5 years, and after Last Jedi dropped, I decided to sell off most of my star wars shit, and it has been probably the worst experience of any hobby community of my life.
I don't know what it is about Star Wars, but it seems to attract the worst of the lot. Maybe some could argue Hot Wheels or Transformers is worse, but Star Wars seems to literally be the hive of scum and villainy in the toy community. I've been stolen from, had chargeback fraud done to me, and forget the absolute nightmare that is trying to sell on ebay, holy fuck.
These weren't desperate poorfags either, these were well-established gen-x/boomers with good jobs and houses and shit that literally stole from me. Grown fucking men literally grabbing figures off of my table and walking with them. I've seen a balding fat man in his 50s throw a tantrum at a toy fair because kylo ren's box a scuff on it and demanded it at 50% off.
And how many of these people did I have conversations with over love of the hobby? Over the enjoyment of the artistry going into the sculpting process, or photographing them into cool scenes, etc? FUCKING NONE. It's all about fucking money, the price of the stupid hunks of plastic shit that ageing autists need to obsessively collect because the only joy they had was when they were 12 in 1977.
