The toys themselves, (as was the case with Durge), sometimes dicated and influenced their appearance in the comics because the artists may have liked to use them as reference. Then the artist might give it their own spin and bam you get a new comic pack from Hasbro. A new durge figure. A new clone trooper. Pic related, it's Arc trooper Alpha-17 and the way his armor is drawn is directly based on the original Arc Trooper figure from Hasbro. It's great.
