>>8539643I go a few times a year to the Florida park. I've looked up a few other parks and it seems to have a little bit of a pattern. Generally the areas are themed around a popular collection of sets. In Florida it is like "Castle", "Pirate", "City" and the others are very specific like Friends, Lego Movie, and Ninjago. Now the cool trick they (usually) do is waiting for a theme to die before making the area and rides. Maybe it's cheaper to licence? We all know Legoland is a different company, so I figure that's some of the delay. Regardless of why it takes as long as it does, they then have no matching product to sell. So to counter this they have those broader areas like castle that they can sell anything vaguely castle in. Right now it is full of Harry Potter. With all that said, they do rides that don't exactly match areas. So like stand alone kinda things. The safari jeeps between dino land and egypt and the great Lego race between pirates and techinic. The great Lego race is a recent addition and I'll assume the closest comparison. Orlando had tons of tv and radio and billboards advertising this new VR coaster. It has no sets and is themed after CMF/lego racers driving cars around a wacky track. So I'd argue they tried to make this a theme like they'll do with Mythica. Merch is as good as you can hope for.
Here's a video of the ride:
