>>5899915>>5899889>>5899861I hate to pull this but, as a black person I have no problem celebrating black face (I actually like the look a lot myself) it's kind of a complex issue on a global scale; some countries with important folk stories that feature blacks in a positive and affirming way dont have many blacks ( mostly Scandinavian countries)
I get that in the americas black face was typically demeaning, and when I say typically I do mean 99 percent of the time. I get it. but my point is that intention should be the most important thing when considering whether something is racist or not. if doll cloths are real "ching-chongy" its probably because someone didn't do much research, not because they hate Asians or their culture
that said, lets talk about dolls and not unrelated projections of insecurity manifesting as over sensitivity to cultural appropriation of cultural artifacts that probably don't belong to us any way, or the mishandling of said artifacts.
