This isn't a matter of globalism insomuch as it is a matter of customers realizing they can do everything from home. Just like Sears used to do, back when mail order catalogs weren't only junk mail. Smart retailers will adapt, others will die. This can be seen with electronic components, Radioshack got passed up by multiple AMERICAN based websites selling AMERICAN made components who could offer a far lower price than a physical store. Unwilling to compete on service (say by offering classes like Micheals does) RS then choked and collapsed, becoming consumed by it's most popular product: Sprint cell phones (whose phones are about 40-50% made in USA, if you were to go component-by-component).
