for example, only people willing to pay $400 would buy the Star Trek set. making it less expensive would not alter the amount of sets sold. if they made it smaller for only $200, twice as many people would not buy it. they would still sell the same amount. so why not make it $400?
all of the sets that are $55 that should be $20 are of the type where enticing people with low prices simply won't work. that's the idea anyway. I'm not saying it's "right" or even that I understand it
it sounds like Lego is simply charging more, because they can. and it might actually be that simple.
