>>9926163Washes are pretty simple but one thing you absolutely have to think about is colour. Black gives you the harshest effect on white, so you might want to go with any shade of grey depending on what you’re looking to accomplish.
Picrel, I handpainted Thor’s Mjolnir (from the Obsidian Surfer) with a metallic silver and then applied a black wash to give it a weathering effect and make it look like it’s been well used for eons. I used Black Tamiya Acrylic and watered it down further with isopropyl alcohol for a watery consistency. After that, you want to apply it and qtip the excess until you’ve achieved your desired look. Then finally, you want to apply a clear coat (of either gloss, semi-gloss or matte) to protect your work.
As an aside, it’s really crazy how much detail Hasbro put into the Mjolnir that’s wasted because they didn’t paint it properly.
