I worked for Toys R Us, pic related is our going out business party after clearing out the store. We were only selling about 35% of our in sore merchandise. Of the shit that wasn't selling we were going to discontinue selling baby clothes, toys, and furniture, since we couldn't compete with stores like Walmart, which could afford to take a financial hit, because they made up for it elsewhere in their sales. We however got raped by things like Star Wars, clearencing heavily the Star Wars land speeders, and still having Jynn Erso and Constable Zuvio black series figures on our final day of business. Nobody fucking wanted Star Wars, and Disney and Hasbro in turn raped us by forcing shitty figures that we couldn't sell, including Forces of Destiny on to our pegs. I'd consider Disney to be one of the biggest problems the toy industry faced along with the over reliance on licensed media for toys. Mattel repeatedly fucked us as well with Ghostbusters 2016 toys and the recent Justice League figures that nobody wanted because the movie didn't do well.
